Beginning April 2009 my friend and fellow musician Bert Jackson and I will be hosting an open mic at Cape Cup on 54 Main St, Orleans (www.capecup.com). Our desire is to create a positive and upbeat environment for musicians and music lovers to get together and share music - all kinds of music. The first open mic was a true success. We had a full house and a diverse array of musicians, instruments and musical genres, from alternative country, folk and jazz, to Indian string instrumentals, fiddle and flute accompaniment and some beautiful vocal arrangements. Fun was had by all and we expect each month to contain some delightful surprises as well as some good ol' foot-tapping singer/songwriter stuff. In addition to getting the word out to musicians, both advanced and beginner (we would like to see more young musicians!), we are trying to build a good size audience. This is a good show, a fun thing to do on a Wednesday night! Coffee and pastries will be available (Cape Cup is building a reputation on their amazing home baked goodies).
